A Corner full of Characters,Love of Mallacoota

The atmosphere of this branch is distinctive and this is probably influenced by the environment of the town and the character of the old soldiers who came to live here.
There were local ex-servicemen, like the late Frank Buckland who served in a Light Horse Regiment, and they came from amongst the handful of fishing families who made up the population of Mallacoota at that time.
After the war, this town on the far eastern corner of Victoria, became attractive to many Melbourne people who wanted to get away from it all. Amongst them were many ex-servicemen and they created a distinctive group of their own.
