A Corner full of Characters,Love of Mallacoota

On a similar beach later in the morning we were treated to the songs of two lyrebirds high up in some trees. Gradually they cam lower and lower, occasionally giving their clucking alarm call. The male was a magnificent bird with a beautiful tail and equally beautiful song. Across the river, in the biggest white gum I’ve ever seen, an eagle had built its huge two metre platform nest with a commanding view of the river and the hills. Some people confer a regality upon Wedge Tails and from that height they must gain a sense of their own superiority.
