Times change and Mallacoota is lucky in that it has been able to ex­perience an incredible surge of development and still keep its links with the past and its true links with the sea.

We might be pumping our local and tourist effluent into the lake, and out into the sea, but there are indications that the town realises that everyone in it depends for their living or their life on the lake and the sea, and to despoil that asset would damage us all.
