Several trees grow within the shattered walls of the Bittangabee site and some said that such huge trees could not be under 200 years’ old, thus dating the building some time before 1770, however, tests by fores­ters have proven that the trees are no more than 30-80 years of age.

The fact that the measurement of the rooms are exactly in feet and inches also discounts Egyptian or Portugese origin, despite the fact that Portugese inscriptions on pottery found in the bay almost certainly prove that the south coast was visited by Portugese much earlier than the 1700s.
