While all this was going on Phil found enough time to build his own unique home, made from the bridge timbers of the old bridge on the Bet- ka River. This house which he shares with Sue Chapman (a rather extra­ordinary and bizarre lady who deserves a separate story) contains many of the oddities and things of rare beauty that Phil collects from the bot­tom of the Tasman sea while he’s gathering his quota of abalone.
