The remote and majestic charm of the estuary has been the succour of writers such as Henry Lawson, E.J. Brady and Edward Harrington and now businessmen are joining the artists and fishermen for whom this corner of Australia has been paradise.

Alan and Neil are staunchly conservative and their eyes take on a special gleam when they discuss politics. They remain unabashedly proud of their hard work and ambition. They have turned from the de­mands of that life to the tranquillity of their present environment, but still believe firmly in the individual person’s right to be enterprising. They profess this belief with enthusiasm, but a good humoured serenity which has been nurtured by a geography which precludes tension and aggression.
