A Corner full of Characters,Love of Mallacoota

His story centres around the killer whales and how whaling began in Eden in 1828 with the Imlay brothers, Davidsons and later Ben Boyd. Bert refers to the whaling as one of the unsolved mysteries of the world. Never before have sea monsters co-operated with man to seek the same prize. The killers would chase deep sea whales into Twofold Bay and herd them into a corner and then splash around on the surface in order to indicate the position of the prey to the fisherman. The killers would then eat the cheek and tongue of the whale and leave the rest for the whalers. Not quite the same order as the drover and his dog, but the co- operation and mutual respect was the same.
